She was noninated for 35 Academy Awards, including every year from 1948-1966, and won 8 (more than any other women). She was one of Alfred Hitchcock’s favourite designers and was responsible for some of the best-known Hollywood fashion images of her day. Her designs are classic, elegant, tailored, and refined; even today her work doesn’t seem dated. Some of my favourites are:
